Dallas 2025 – Giving Visibility to Mbum Cultural Heritage

For centuries, the Mbum people have preserved a rich cultural heritage rooted in wisdom, leadership, and community. At the heart of this legacy stand two pillars of traditional governance: the Fon and the Mayaah. These leaders—crowned not just with authority but with responsibility—have guided our people through generations, safeguarding our values, resolving conflicts, and nurturing the soul of our society. Yet today, these sacred institutions are under threat. Modernization, colonial disruption, and economic hardship have eroded the support systems that once sustained our traditional leaders. The Fon, once revered as the spiritual and political guardian of the Fondom, now struggles to maintain the dignity of the palace. The Mayaah, a po werful female figure second only to the Fon, has been all but forgotten—many living in poverty, without recognition, support, or even a place to call home. This campaign is our call to action. As WICUDA-USA, we are launching our first-ever fundraising campaign on Givebutter to restore dignity, visibility, and vitality to the Mayaah institution—and by extension, to the entire Mbum traditional leadership. Your support will help us: Build dignified housing for Mayaahs Provide scholarships and vocational training Inprove their socio-economic well-being. Reconnect our diaspora with our cultural roots Let us come together—sons, daughters, and friends of the Mbum community, to honor our past and invest in our future. By empowering our leaders, we preserve our identity. Join us. Give generously. Help us in Preserving our Cultural Institutions and heritage as we give visibility to the Mbum identity.   Please click in the DONATE button below to donate to this campaign
